Essay Example:

Question: During your childhood, who has most influenced your life and how did they do so. This person can be someone you know or someone you have read about, seen on T.V. etc.

My mother is the person I want to write about. I chose to write about my mother because my father passed away when I was 11 and my mother took on the role as a mom and dad to raise me.

1.       My mother showed me great strength
2.       My mother taught me how to survive and get through the           toughest of times
3.       My mother helped me learn how to grieve, but also to celebrate           the 11 amazing years I had with my dad
4.       My mother helped me create new relationships that didn’t replace           my dad, but filled my life with happiness
5.       My mother took me to all my baseball and basketball games and           played the “dad” role in continuing to help me reach my goals as           an athlete

I chose to write about my mom because she is the person who has lost a lot, but at the same time as able to give more of herself to her child.  She was going through great pain, but put it aside to make sure her children stayed on the right path and experienced childhood the way she dreamed they would.
